Art Photographer - Lamya Alam

Going into the beginning of this semester, never had I completely developed a photo in a dark room. And at that, the only film cameras I had touched were a couple of disposables in the past. This was all new to me, but that is what excited me, seeing the whole process of developing and then, in the end, hopefully having a beautiful photograph. 

I have always viewed art as something only people with a creative mind could do, and I tend to not be super creative. But now, I view art as something that anybody can use to express themselves, whether that's their love for animals or nature, showing emotions, or even showing the problems in our world. The opportunities are endless.

With my work this semester, I wanted to show the simplicity of life, meaning that nothing needs to be planned, but rather how we should focus on the moments that happen spontaneously every day. Human beings tend to feel the need to be perfect, as well as have zero problems. When in reality, we aren't perfect and our problems help shape us at the end of the day. And I hope that my photos represent that feeling well.
